City Tour - Szczecin / Stettin in the movie

A very special way to discover Szczecin!

Szczecin is a city with a rich multicultural history full of mysteries and unknown facts. Latest discovery is that the story portrayed in the 1963 cult American film, "The Great Escape" starring Steve McQueen, has its continuation in Szczecin.
Stalag Luft III in Sagan was the best guarded camp of the Third Reich. The plan of the escape was made.
Most of the escapees were pretending to be workers and traveling by trains. Two Norwegian pilots: Sergeant Per Bergsland and Lieutenant Jens Müller have chosen Szczecin One day after to Stettin arrived famous Harry Day wings and the Polish Navigator Paweł Tobolski. Only Norwegian survived.

During panoramic tour you will see all the „highlights" of Szczecin and the places visited in 1944 by two Norwegian heroes and Englishman Harry Day and Polish Navigator.
We start the this tour with the film screening in the cinema.
Then we visit the Pomeranian Dukes Castle, the Old Town and the Underground Museum – in March 1944 a German shelter.
After that you will have a lunch at the brewery-bar which played the important role in ”The Great Escape to the North” film.
You will taste the local beer and try local cuisine.
We finish this tour with visiting the harbour which became a gate to freedom for Norwegians who did escape in the cargo hold of the Swedish merchant ship sailing from Stettin to neutral Sweden.
